Which Vallejo Basecolor For Us Cavalry/civil War Pants?

Hello, I haven't been around for a while but am thinking about restarting figure painting now winter is coming around soon. Could anybody tell me which Vallejo color blue is a good basecolor for US Cavalry / Civil war Union troops pants? During my vacation I started on a figure used a much yo...

WIP Wyatt Earp (by Bill Horan)

I recently finished Wyatt Earp Enclosed is also a youtube link with a 1 minute clip for a more dynamic presentation. I hope to improve on the next project. Earp seems to have had a bit of a stiff neck on this figure but other than that I'm fairly content with this piece which might get a little...

    WIP Liberty Valance

Hello Marc, I did the piping in a copper enamel instead of gold in a somewhat simplistic way which worked out pretty OK (at least to my taste). It tones the brightness that gold paint would have down nicely but still leaves a bit of shine. I was a bit impacient yesterday and glued the...

    WIP Liberty Valance

Well it took me a while to get my ‘Figure Painting Mojo’ up again but I have reached the point where I’m entering the finishing stages of this great Andreas figurine of Liberty Valance (photo’s will follow soon). I will have to make a decision on the shirt he’s wearing. Although often depicted...

Review "Can you hear me mother" from The Basement Range

Re: "Can you hear me mother" -Review forthcoming Great bust! In case anybody is wondering about the title: 'Can you hear me mother'. This bloke is Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill (actor Pete Postlethwaite) from the epic series Sharpes Rifles. Hakeswill was a real mean b#sterd, and enemy within the...

Haha, Thats a great idea :) I think I might look into the ridingwhip Chippy, but I'm to much of a wimp to cut down one of the two revolvers.

WIP Wyatt Earp (by Bill Horan)

Thank you Ferris and Baron. I like your ideas but I will paint Wyatt the way he is now. I'm to much afraid I might ruin the figure by breaking off resin bits when I start taking it apart again, not having any guarantee the outcome will be better than it is now. I'm not that adventurous when it...

WIP Wyatt Earp (by Bill Horan)

Thank you. I'm putting in an Andrea Miniatures saloon chair I restored, having it 'forzen in freefall' balancing on two legs. I hope this will convey a bit more of action and sense of dynamics.

    Completed Critique US BAR Gunner

Great figure! There is a drawing taken from camerafootage of this stance. The BAR gunner in that picture/film was wearing an M43 jacket instead of a M41 but other than that is's quite simular.

WIP Wyatt Earp (by Bill Horan)

Another piece I'm working on is Bill Horans 'Wyatt Earp'. I haven't seen this figure around much and hope I can make it into a nice vignette. To be quite honest I think it's a rather stiff, maybe even dull pose. His aim seems to be at 'rider hight' as it is rather high. The swirling frockcoat...

    WIP Liberty Valance

Thats right! 'Liberty Valance'! As in Lee Marvin in 'The man who shot Liberty Valance'. 'The Shootist' as Andrea Miniatures claim this figure it to be (or at least call it) was John Wayne in a entirly diffrent movie. To further dazzle their costumers Andrea's catalogue picture shows us a...

    "BUFFALO HUNTER" 75mm - Zlobov*S

I just read the complete thread and found out I was the third to mention the somewhat perticular pose. One of an expert shooter from horseback, leaving my comment quite unnecessary. I'm not sure if the saying "Kicking in an open door" is just my translation of a Dutch saying or if that saying...

    "BUFFALO HUNTER" 75mm - Zlobov*S

I really like it but can't get over the way the Buffalo hunter is 'sitting' in the sadlle. It would be very hard riding like this (I ride myself and wouldn't dream of attempting riding like this myself). The balance is off, the horse won't get any leads on the side of the pulled up leg. Reins...
