    Need Help-british Napoleanic/war Of 1812 Question

Dear 'Cap' I find a good starting pointfor a question such as yours would be to search 'Lists of Regiments of Foot' on www. wikipedia.org . I know not many people like to depend on the information furnished on this site, however, a quick search reveals that neither regiment would have been...

well said; your work your interpretation, I hope like many artists there is an allegory to the piece.

    24 The Yorkshire Regiment. 1879

Fex, I thought you would gone for the glengarry or fore and aft, as your illustration depicted. The pith helmet looks good, but the alternative option may have looked better. Overall, an interesting sculpt. You are very talented; and I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this particular...

    24 The Yorkshire Regiment. 1879

Ritchie, thanks for this input, as per my original comment , which was merely informatory, when I said 'in my day, officers wore what was called the 'fore and aft', which was similar in design to the glengarry but without the sissy ribbons'. I notice that the headwear in the photograph on the...

    24 The Yorkshire Regiment. 1879

Fex, thanks for the input, however, the pith helmet was standard issue , the cap belongs to a highland regiment , the 75th I think, and the glengarry bears a badge that can only belong to scottish regiment, because of the sizing, and belt and buckles don't marry to the headgear, the 24th of...

    24 The Yorkshire Regiment. 1879

Ron, we didn't have school milk i my day, instead we were rationed on Newcastle' nukee' Brown and woodbines and that was in the 'infants'. However,Ribbons were always considered 'sissy' when worn by boys. Meanwhile, please correct me if I'm wrong, but officers of an English regiment...

    24 The Yorkshire Regiment. 1879

'Interesting stuff Fex I never realised that none Scottish units wore the Glengarry ' Steve , in my day it was referred to as a 'fore and aft' worn by officers only, however, they never had the trailing ribbon; frowned upon and a bit'sissy'.

French Arttilary Uniform From The Crimea

Ian , Horse artillery- uniforms followed the cavalry in style : blue with red facings and yellow buttons. The blue shako had brass crossed cannon barrels under the cockade at the front , with red top band , red pompom , side chevrons and cords. A drooping red plume was worn. The blue double...

Open Book Cgs Sergeant, 79th Cameron Highlanders, Waterloo 1815, 110mm

I agree with you Johan, the quality of this figure is superb that I might just add it to my to do 'box'. Furthermore, I recently bought the Royal Horse Artillery officer circ 1815 off Graham, this is also a quality figure, and linking that with Graham's exceptional customer service, in that he...

New Release - Napoleonic French Infantryman (after The Battle) Bust

It would appear that it is the inclusion of the crutch that appears to spoil the overall affect for some? Perhaps, this figure would have been better portrayed in another genre; perhaps as a full figure. Maybe, the illusion of the character resting on the crutch, with legs bent, would have...

New Release - Napoleonic French Infantryman (after The Battle) Bust

Surely, the weathering of a sculpture is one of personal choice! However, with regard to the detail on the model, it is what I would expect from a company that delivers quality. For me, our hobby is the interpretation of our own thoughts and this has been my mandate for many years. Keep up the...
