Hi Dave

That looks good built up , shows how good the sculpting is by JS , a bit of work but nothing major

I particularly like the sit of the equipment and the effects of it pulling on the zelt

Thanks for updates

Looking forward to seeing more

Have fun at the bench

Thank you for your interest on my build….I love his work, I am a great fan for sure.

After a bit of a Mental Health crisis yesterday I’m just taking a breather and will be back to it once I get my base from Richard.

The base arrived today from Richard at Oakwood….another great piece and superb service quality.

Ive started the groundwork, which will be pretty basic tbh. It’s a figure focused piece, but I added the top and marked the pins for the heels.

Still refining the figure but will start laying the groundwork tomorrow.

That is something I don't do often enough, much better to fit the figure to the base unpainted and not when almost complete! Looking forward to seeing this evolve.

Cheers Simon

Base highs and lows completed, allowed 2 full days to dry at room temperature and first coats of paint going in today. I always do a spot primer, to see pin holes, defects, stray hair or dust, followed by a good coat of black primer, finished with a dusting of grey primer for base highlights and shadows. I find it easier to contrast folds with a thin coats of my base with final shading done by brush at the end.

The Zelt is having plane tree autumn camouflage. I’m white washing a worn lid with hand painted decal on his right (ss runes). Underneath the zelt is a great coat followed by field grey trousers and black boots.

The weapon and gloves will be completed last as I need to get the ammo pouches painted along with the buckle and parts of the zelt. The end of the 44 is also very fragile so no point in popping that on until it’s almost completely done.

Great coat is nearly there, I just need to do the collars and add weathering. Zelt has its base coat with shading and highlights complete, ready for the Plane Tree autum camo. Once the pattern is on I will go over highlights and low lights on the pattern and then give everything a flat earth mist coat to give the appearance of worn/weathered clothing, before final weathering.

White lid, will add nice contrast and bring it in to unison with the snow base.

I’m trying to lose myself in the hobby at the moment…..my dog has an eye ulcer and I’ve just noticed loads of small tumours on his gum line in the upper mouth……he is nearly 10, Samoyed breed that don’t get much past 11…..I’m already feeling devastated………back to vets on Monday for the eye, but now we will have to point out the new problem. I’m not good with this sort of thing tbh, having lost my father young and many friends , dealing with loss is something I don’t cope with.

Nice progress, he's looking good.

Sorry to hear about the dog, it's hard I know, of the last 7 cats I've had to take 6 to the vet but the hardest was my Jack Russell a couple of years ago now. She was perfectly healthy if a little old but she launched at and attacked my Granddaughter, pure jealousy on the dogs part. It never gets easy and we collect more of this baggage the older we get unfortunately, just know you're not alone and there is a good support network here if you need it. Take your time.

Cheers Simon
