Hi Kevin.
Can I please ask you for a point of clarification on the helmet of this regiment.
With Ian's info with the figure it says that the band around the base of the helmet is brown fur. The reenacters and paintings show a red material.
Do you have a view on what it should be Mate?
Cheers for any help you can offer.
Keith

Hi Keith

No disrespect to Ian and of course nothing to say an officer had his helmet adapted with brown fur ( perhaps he shot the bear) but I will say the red turban band is definately the way to go

Another point there are variations on the helmet , some all brass some with bands only

I did a red turban with bands

Geoff Charman did an all brass helmet with brown turban

Many thanks Mate,
I had forgotten about your superb completed version.
There is so much on there that is giving a real life took to it. Not least the brush work on his turban in red velvet.
As always you have all the detail I was looking for and a whole stack of more that you know I will need as I progress.
Kindest regards and ta,
Keith

The addition of fur was a peculiarity only used in North America at this time, apparently. Sometimes it was brown or black fur, some had white sheepskin, others kept the red turban - down to the individual it would seem so, plenty of choice there..(y)

Indeed Steve ..... As with soldiers.... always like to individualise things !

Really fancy that green coat
