Hi Kevin.
Can I please ask you for a point of clarification on the helmet of this regiment.
With Ian's info with the figure it says that the band around the base of the helmet is brown fur. The reenacters and paintings show a red material.
Do you have a view on what it should be Mate?

Hi Keith
No disrespect to Ian and of course nothing to say an officer had his helmet adapted with brown fur ( perhaps he shot the bear) but I will say the red turban band is definately the way to go
Another point there are variations on the helmet , some all brass some with bands only
I did a red turban with bands

Many thanks Mate,
I had forgotten about your superb completed version.
There is so much on there that is giving a real life took to it. Not least the brush work on his turban in red velvet.
As always you have all the detail I was looking for and a whole stack of more that you know I will need as I progress.

The addition of fur was a peculiarity only used in North America at this time, apparently. Sometimes it was brown or black fur, some had white sheepskin, others kept the red turban - down to the individual it would seem so, plenty of choice there..

Hi Kev - just a thought that if you go for the green coat option, you'll have to lose the turnbacks and all that lovely lace........

It is a very plain coat No lapels as you say a cuff with buttons ...quite civilian in look .

I think I would have acquired a green coat if Id have been there - nothing more noticeable than prancing about on a horse in a HiVis red coat, with all that glitter and tinsel adornment!
