Just been looking at Markus`s thread in painting and was wondering is there a demand for 200mm full figures, it just seems they are far few apart and its something I might consider sculpting for commercial release.
Would like others input on it, also sculpt ideas and what sort of price people would want to pay per figure.

Markus Adanits(pinsel) thread http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/showthread.php?p=369654#post369654

There have been popular ones in the past, Rosengrant's come to mind..

The genre, pose and persona really make or break this scale though, it has to be very grabbing for them to sell.

Personally I'd like to see more as it's a gateway product and scale to and from other genre's of figures (garage kits, etc)

hello steve
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
i would love to have them maybe as bust with arms and hands like the mg gunner from Young-so not at all an full figure
so its not so big it will not suit in an collectors cabinet but neverless looking spot on.
i would love to see an roman gladiator named PANCRATEUS
they where ancient boxers which wore at both fists straps wich where fixed with iron or leaden balls.
so those fighting was devastating.such an chap with crushed nose and battered face would look spot on.
cheers(y)

very interesting idea Markus but using the word PANCRATEUS did not get me any results with Google, I will look into this though.

Gordy yes Rosengrant's come to mind and you are right they have to be something spectacular to grab the attention.

well you should try
PANKRATION
it was an greek form of freestylefight
boxing wrestling ect
no rules and ulimate fighting
very brutal
there is an marble statue in believe in Louvre paris of the beaten fighter
the wore an imple loincloth wide leather belt and bandaged hands wich where girted with those rims with the studs on them
so lots of blood-i think one could see such an fighter in the look like Vorobian Ruslan did his veteran bust.lots of scars and an really rough and rouged face..
if i could sculpt i would love to do it
in german wikipedia there are some bronce figures shown and an short explanation abaout
cheers
cheers

Hi Steve,

THer is definately a small market for these, but I would say stay with WW2, more than likely german and get the detail in there as they are big.

I've looked at it also and these are my thoughts from studying what to do. Make sure its damned good or it will be a BIG flop

Stu

Stu

Yeah BIG expensive flop at that mate:) I was thinking this might veer toward ww2 German but I was hoping to go in other directions with it, will see what everyone thinks, I appreciate the input mate.

cheers

Hard to say Steve. You will have to consider the cost of the finished article, obviously more resin more cost. The market has appears to have lent more to the smaller scales, but as you know busts are popular.
Carl.

I would love to see some full 200mm figures come out. I would like to see Germans and U.S Modern soldiers. Blast U.S Soldier OIF- No 1 or the Marine No 1 in 1/35 would be both great in 200mm I think.
You only have to look at some of the great figures in smaller scales and make then in 1/9Some of Jeff Shiu's figures in 120mm, I think would be great in 1/9.
Very few 1/9 full figures are done these days and I agree Youngs latest German with MG42 would be great as a 1/9 full figure and I am sure it would sell well.

Price is an issue as its a big cast but i can discuss this with the casters and see what production cost would be and then decide on a retail price.

It would only be a limited run so that reduces the risk of it flopping and makes it more viable to produce.

Still looking for some subject ideas for it at the moment.

Steve(y)

yess that will be great !

I hope to see all 200 mm of John Rosengrant edit one day ...

Sure I 'll buy them or Young bust full figure

just ordered the new maurice corry para 200mm and with 57 pounds equals 70 euro i think this is fair price.
keep em coming iam sure any ww2 them or an nice ancient figure will work
there is still need for an authentic and realistic sculpted celt.most with the bronce cuirass or high bronce helmet with crest or horns are completly historic inaccurate-
cheers

Markus thanks for letting me know how much this figure costs it will give me a starting point for pricing. I think WW2 is looking promising for the first one.

hello steve
well if i consider that one pays in germany about 40 euros per young bust so i think the lower half is priced up to 50:50.
you might have an look at u tube for old german news week reels
lots of pic lots of interesting uniforms as soldiers.

as far as i know untill now no one have done an panzerschreck operator in 200mm nor as bust nor full figure
what shall one saypossibilities seem endless.
one can do one more sell the item as bust as as full figure so one would have an choice.
i looked at the young mg 42 gunner an calculated if lower body halves i have here left over from other stuff would suit
on it to make it an full figure.......maybe in the future.
so far i am sure you will find something snappy.
cheers

Markus that is a very good suggestion to have it possible as a bust or full figure depending on the buyers preference and yes a Panzerschreck operator is something seldom seen.

Some good thoughts for consideration thank you,

Steve(y)

so you have lots to do:D
i saw pics of the FLIEGERFAUST
this is an crazy insturment looking like an gatling.it was intended to get down any low level flying aircrafts the TIEFFLIEGER.
reports that some where already issued in the last days of war seems an little bit shacky
but well interesting anyway
best regards
