Hello chaps,
I have tried to take on board the constructive comments from my first post and carry this forward, I have tried to be bolder on the shading and contrast especially around the eyes. Do the eyes still pop out? Having photographed it, it has shown up a flaw, I think the left eye pupil as you view needs adjusting and the catch light!

But what I am struggling with the most is the blonde hair, I am using Vallejo model colour acrylics and any advice would be most welcome to stop it becoming a dirty yellow colour. Can any one give me a simple mix and application that works.
I have seen a few posts but I am none the wiser, is there a Step By Step.

Thanks for your time and advice.
cheers
Richie

You're on the right track, did you use a flash with you photos ? We might get a better read under some different, light. The tones are good as is the five o'clock shadow. The eye placements look tricky at best since the sculpting has one higher than the other (nothing you can do about that).

Is that a giant pimple also? Or an attachment point for something (sorry i'm not familliar with the kit! )

Looks like you're improving. I have also been struggling with blond hair on my current project. There seems to be a great deal of variation in blond hair color. Are you going for a specific look? I like to use google's image search to find the look I'm trying to match. Doing a side by side comparison might help you figure out what direction to go in.

For my work, I mixed in some leather brown near the roots. I then worked up to mostly yellow with a little beige. I was trying to keep it dark, but for lighter shades I would have experimented with something like a yellow + buff mix for the highlights. Sorry I don't have a tried and true method to share, but this is what I've tried. Keep experimenting and keep painting!

My blond attempt (75mm):

Hi Gordy,
Yes the 3 photo's with the dark background were taken with the flash on, the other 4 I built a box with a diffused light over the top from a tip by Mark Dollery. (Thanks Mark) I cannot remember if the flash was on or not. (Still trying to become a David Bailey). Must make some notes!
The pimple! I was trying to create a boil effect on the face.

Hi David,
Thanks for the advice, I think I will try your idea for using a google image for comparison and your mix. I was trying to create a blonde unwashed look for the hair.
thanks again boys

Oy! yes that's a nasty looking boil! Something I've never seen on a figure before (outside of the fantasy warts and all) an honest touch of realism!

Hi mate, try looking at Calvin Tan website, in the painting heads section down the right hand side of the page.
Hope this helps
Sam
