Hi Ron,
Thanks mate, I must say I'm enjoying using the oils, your right they are certainly drying fast in this weather. Scrub on, wipe off I have no idea were I pinched that from.:happy:
cheers

This quote, ( Scrub on, Wipe off ) .. rattle's through my head, whilst sleeping!.... it really shouldn't !! its not natural !

Hi All,
Just a small update on this one, one of seven projects I'm juggling . On the Rorke's Drift bust I've scrubbed and stained the helmet, blocked in the hair and mutton chops and added some initial flesh tones to the face, I have also sprayed the tunic base colour.
On the officer bust I've sprayed the base colour of the tunic. Dennis was kind enough to give me a lesson in spraying and initially sprayed the base coat and I have since over sprayed it again.
cheers

Looking really good so far Richie. The helmets are outstanding.
Seven projects at once? :nailbiting: Are you gonna finish one soon?

Colin

Hi Colin,
Thanks for comments mate, Ron has to take a bit of credit for helmets with his scrub on, scrub off technique which I was only too willing to pinch:) . Yes I know 7 is probably a few too many;) but I will get them done eventually....promise.
cheers
Richie

Looking really good Mate,
As with Colin, I think the helmet scrubbing tecnique has worked a treat. The shako plate is looking good with the dark brass effect.
Generally you are right on the money with this pair Richie, I like them a lot.
All the very best Mate,
Keith

Hi Colin, Keith & Roger,
Thank you all so much, I must I am pleased with the results so far especially the helmets. I've been doing some more work on the face and blocking in the straps. Hopefully I will have something worth posting in a few days.
cheers

Hello Richie,
Both pieces are looking very good.My Reid bust is still in need of more weathering but I don't yet have the confidence to to do what needs to be done with the face.I'm curious to see what you do.Will be following.

Hi Wayne,
Why don't you study Brian's version, posted earlier in this thread, he has weathered his and it's superb. What are you painting with oils, acrylics???? It might be worth posting yours to seek some advice.
cheers
Richie

Hi Brian,
Thank you very much for the comments, but I feel like I've got some big shoes to fill with this one mate.:wideyed: By the way what size are your shoes:whistle:

Hi Richie
These busts look really good,I love all your Zulu stuff and your conversions,we all have different styles and I'm sure these will be great when finished,I did that bust a few years ago now and I would definatly do it differently if I was painting it now,are you going to Euro Militaire ?

Hi Brian,
Thanks, hopefully I can do some justice to them both as I feel my standards are slowly improving. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the Euro's but I'll be there in spirit, I certainly know Dennis will be representing our club. After Driffield next week probably the next two I'll make is Telford and then the White Rose. Hopefully we can meet up one day in the future and have a good chat.
cheers

Hi Brian,
Yes Dennis Moloney is one of our club members, he was at Figureworld, unfortunatley I was not.

Hi All,
A small update, I've roughly blocked in all the main colours now, the hard work begins now of refining everything and putting in the shadows, highlights and detail and hopefully this will pull everything together. Need to correct the eyes aswell. The blue under the chin will form a neckerchief due to the fit of the head to torso.
cheers

Richie

I was very impressed with the standard of work on the white rose display, some beautiful figures I saw, hopefully you make it next year to figureworld :)

Hello Richie,
Looking good,,I did mine with mostly acrylics, but I think the weathering might be better done using oils. Also I did considerable fooling around to get the hand to connect with the forehead, where yours looks like the hand is on its way up.....Not sure what the sculptors interpretation was meant to be.....Just did what I thought was right.
Anyway,following your progress.........Regards.......Wayne
