Great!!! (y) (y) (y)

I have the 100mm David Grieve/Debra Raymond figure (private of the 28th foot), and it's just about my favourite figure of my favourite subject! :)

Will it be King's or Regimental colour? Can't see it in your pics. but I suppose the "back badge" is there as well?
Look forward to seeing more!

Hi Johan, It will be Kings colour. It's going to be a fairly large area, and yellow is a pig when it comnes to covering power. The back badge will be there, about the same time I get the patience to do the lettering on the scrolls. ;)

Anders, Afraid I can't tell you anything more about the crown and the numbers, other than I start with a blob of putty about the right size, make it aproximately the right shape by taking bits away and then carry on until I'm happy with the result. It does get done in stages though. Have to admit the numbering is a bit out of scale but I'm putting it down to artistic licence !!!!

I should have much of the jacket done by tonight. I'll post some more as I go.

yellow is a pig

It is, isn't it

Haven't a clue what medium you're going to use, but in case it's oils, add some colour that makes the yellow more opaque? Don't know, mars yellow? Titanium white and a dot of burnt sienna?

Actually the facing colour of the 28th North Gloucestershire has been described as "Phillemot" yellow, derived from the French "feuille mort" = "dead leaves" ... so that would suggest something nearer to yellow ochre
In fact, there is a portrait of Captain Cadell of the grenadier company where you can see the actual facing colour, but I can't tell you anything about this one because I haven't seen it (yet).
Bryan Fosten did some nice colour illustrations for an article about the 28th in that ancient Campaigns Magazine, and there the facings colour goes more toward a yellow ochre...

Hope this helps,

Johan

... Gee , that lawnchair smilie is quite something isn't he
