I have now finished this figure of a S/ Nco of the 2nd Life Guards.
By chance I came across an original Mike French kit named as 2nd Life Guards 1882 and not as a Dragoon Guard in my wip post.

So here we have a Corporal of Horse and as an aside, Gentlemen served in all ranks of the Life Guards and they rejected the term Sergeant (associated with 'servant') in favour of Corporal of Horse, a tradition which still persists.
Corporal of Horse wore gold chevrons and a metal crown.
All painted and finished in acrylic paints. Hope you like him.

I lost the original buckles to the slings, so had to source some from the internet, I got some and now have enough to do some more buckles at a later date.
Thanks to
Peedee
Banjer
Arg
Housecarl
John Bowery and
Valiant

Thanks guys

Nicely done Bob, I like Mike French stuff but I only have one. Wish I'd got more when I had the chance.
I believe he gave up military figures and went into dolls house pieces. A much bigger market.

Very nice and clean work, congratulations. I also have this figure in my GA.
By the way, what is the brand of the buckles? They look great.

Cheers,

Francisco

These old Mike French figures are still a pleasure to paint along with all of David Grieves Napolionic sculpts.....Richie on here is re releasing the old Zulu range so the opportunity to stock up on these figures is now here...you’ve made a cracking job of this one by the way Bob

I believe Mike French gave up sculpting altogether and got a job as a hospital porter in Bournemouth hospital sadly missed as a sculptor by myself and many others but Richie has started to re release the old Zulu range so the opportunity to grab a few for the grey army is there now

Super looking piece of work Bob. Just proves once again acrylics have their place when you know how to use them....By the way...are you O.K.?.....you look a bit older in your avatar but in a smarter more mature way.:)

I'm sure there are many more that had to give up what they love to do to make a living.

Thank you Francisco, the buckles are from Resicast via Historex agents. I found that 120mm buckles were too big so used 54mm.
