I actually love this style of painting, it looks fabulous. As others mentioned, a thin glaze with several layers will tone down the highlights but I actually like it as it is.

Not too much needed like you said before the peak casts it's own shadow, looks very good now all put together.

Oh yeah that looks good, the belt plate looks ace as does the brown leather, that's going to be one to be proud of.
