WIP 45th Rattray's Sikhs, NWF, 1879

Great subject Steve and looks to be coming on really well. Managed to find a group shot of members of the 45th Sikhs including Rattray (standing front left with bandage around neck) following the relief of Chakdara which may be of use to you. Will these be commercial or a one off?

Take it that it’s showing upside down for you guys- strange that, I had to rotate the phone to get the full picture but when I added it it seemed to be the right way up! Go figure. Know what you mean about niche subjects Steve, such a shame though to miss out on the British Indian Army of the time and the uniform/head dress variations.

I agree, Neal. I appreciate the risk and costs manufacturers take when investing in new product and the business is all about sales and Im not directing this at any specific maker, nor do I intend to cause offence to anyone, but it would be nice to see some more "offbeat" subjects out there, rather than the same old same old... I enjoy nothing more than researching and learning about new stuff, rather than just sticking to the tried and tested.

cheers Chris - the officer's kit is pretty basic, consisting of a snake - fasten belt, shoulder holster and waterbottle -possibly a haversack,too. The sepoy will have a rolled blanket on the Valise equipment, haversack and waterbottle. At least, that's the plan....

Hi Eppi - the puttees are made from 3mm masking tape, sealed with PVA to prevent unravelling....

This week's progress so far on my 120mm 45th Rattrays Sikhs vignette. Some details added, some still to do. Hands done in a 50/50 mix of Duro and Milliput. Officer's revolver scratch built from plastic card, tube and strip, Snider rifle conversion from Enfield rifle, courtesy of Steve Readdie. Thanks Steve.

Brilliant work, Steve. Faces look so crisp & realistic, the poses compliment each other so well - I couldn’t even begin to imagine how to scratchbuild a revolver from plasticard & rod! Great effort, mate.

BTW, had a nice piece of 45rpm vinyl arrive today......This Man by Wally Cox, so I had to get the turntable out & sprinkle some talc on the laminate flooring! Have to hoover it up before Mrs.O gets home.......
