Hi guys, this is my first project I have decided to start on. According to the seller he is a hussar during Napoleon's Russian Campaign. Ive tried to do as much research as I can but I'm sure you all know how much of a pain the internet can be. But I have managed to find a few reference pictures.

Sorry for the double post, I will say that if there are any experts on the subject with any guidelines or thoughts then please feel free to share them.

Cheers for that Steve, for the now I'm just going to attack him with citadel paints and see how it goes, whoever had him before me went a bit overboard on some area with the undercoat so I'm just treating this bloke as an experiment.

If you decide on a specific Hussar Regiment, let me know and I'll post the specific reference from the Rousselott book. To my mind, that's the best Nappy French Army reference. If it's helpful, the figure seems to be on the retreat from Moskow during the winter of 1812-13 (if I'm seeing it right in the first two pics)... to that end, the uniform became very un-uniform. A mishmash of clothes and equipment picked up and discarded en route... anything to stay warm and alive.

Don't hesitate to ask :)

Before you start then mate use some nail polish remover ( the type with acetone) that is a good paint stripper and shouldn't hurt the resin at all, it may well loosen any glued parts so as you can separate them if you need to

Not sure the 4th hussars were in russia in 1812...the 5th. 7th 8 th 9 th definately were. I will need to check but i think the 4th were in spain in 1812

Stu

Ah excellent thank you Stu, I have been trying to find out who was the sculpter. But yes if anyone has any info then please feel free to bombard me with it.

As Colin mentioned mate they were in rag order on the retreat so don't be afraid to mix and match uniforms/colours if you want

Yea I remember watching a documentary on it and due to the short supply of horses they had generals leading cavalry regiment, purely because people of higher ranks generally had serveral horses.
