Congratulations for the idea! If I can give you some advice, you may realize a Hussar of 5° Regiment, definitely present in Russia and, in my opinion, with a nice combination of colors on the uniform. Can't wait to see it finished!

I've also managed to find these on the net. I assume the doloman is the coat that goes over the shoulder? If it is then I was thinking about doing the one on my guy in scarlet, just making seem like he has pinched it off one of his dead comrades from another regiment.
Yes that's it mate I think if it's got a fur trim it's called a Pelisse more or less the same article though I believe I'm sure one of the Nappy buffs will correct or confirm that. No reason why he wouldn't have nicked it mate, but be prepared to spend time telling everybody that's it not a mistake
The dolman is the tight fitting jacket worn buttoned up with the barrel sash over it. The fur trimmed coat is the pelisse, worn slung over the left shoulder either to protect that side of the body from sword cuts (or just to look saucey). In inclement weather it could be worn over the uniform.
Well you see, my bloke has a fur lined jacket draped over both shoulders but he also has something tied around his waist with fur on too. However its not a sash.
Looks like he's wearing a sheepskin vest over his pelisse, probably picked up along the retreat, the sash is probably another pick-up. Some kind of civilian scarf or something... hard to see in the pic. You've actually picked a fairly challenging fig for your first Nappy with him being so "out of uniform"
PS.. I'd venture the trousers are also civilian... look a little rough cut for hussar overalls. The footwear would be rags or leather strips wrapped over his feet after his boots hore out.
Well Ive got my mate coming over later with his camera because the site wont let my post pics from my i phone. So more detailed stuff to follow. Then hopefully somebody will be able to tell. Still no joy on finding a reference picture on the net.
If it's as Colin says a guy wearing a load of begged, borrowed or stolen kit then you won't find any references, I disagree about it being a challenge though I think it's ideal as you can paint it as you see fit really without wondering is this the right shade of blue etc so you can get your eye in on this figure then progress to a more "regimental" figure after
Hi Taff,
Well you are up and running now, good luck with your first post, these lads will sort you out with great advice and info. look forward to seeing you hit this one with the brushes.
Go for it, and don't worry about all the fur and tight fitting stuff, maybe he was good to his mother and likes show tunes
..........Sorry it's the Monkey Hanger in me!
Good luck, now get cracking. I'll send your info. out in the next day or two mate.
cheers
Richie
Cheers Jazz, Your the first person I've seen who has one. So what exactly is that he has across his waist? Richie cheers for that mate. Just need to get some paints and brushes then I'm good to go.
