John Bowery
A Fixture
This is a Minuteman miniature in 54mm. It is set on a base given to me by Guy last year when I visited him. I thought that it fit the mountain man figure. I only used one of the stretched skins and added a Bayardi tree stump. I glued the snow shoes back to back as they only had detail on one side and I did not want to take up the room by laying them down. I also only used one trap and added a chain to the trap. The snow is Snow Tex and I added some Snow-in-a-pot to the top to give some glisten to the snow. I cut off the rifle barrel at the front and substituted some stainless steel tube so that it really was hollow. Painted some beadwork on the band to add some extra colour. Maureen suggested the snow on the hat and arms, but I might have overdone it on the arms. Lesson learned for next time.
The sash around the coat is a slightly orangey red to change the colour slightly.
I also added a couple of footprints and put a very thinned burnt umber wash as that seemed to make them stand out a little better. I added some wire thongs to the rear of the axe handle. I broke the handel off getting the resin stump off so I made a new handle out of stainless steel tubing and wrapped lead foil around the end for the hide cover.
All comments are welcome.
Thanks for looking and hope that you enjoy it.
Cheers
