Here are a couple of pictures of a figure I am just starting. It is a 75mm, Officer 60th Foot Royal American from Troop 54. I hope to get started on the uniform and then go back to the flesh once I get some more colors added. Any advice, likes or dislikes would be appreciated. It has been several years since I painted a 'large figure', so I am not sure how this will turn out.
Thanks, Rusty

Hi Rusty

It’s a good start , your definitely right to look at the flesh after more colours added

I’m following this with much interest

Have fun at the bench

Very nice Rusty, face is looking good, I do like this period so will watch with interest.

Cheers Simon

Looks like a great start, I've been wondering about picking this one up to go with the 60th grenadier I've got waiting to be finished.

Very nice start noot rusted at all :)
I did noticed that for figures from troop54 (not sure if this one comes from a messeguer), eyes sculpt is not their forte.
On your fig it seems the eyes are very distant. I would try to extend the eyelid toward the nose to correct that

Brilliant start, will you mind sharing your base color for red?

The red is Vallejo Flat Red. It is painted over resin that I had originally primed black and didn't like it, so I stripped as much of it as possible. The black left shadows in the folds, so I primed it with a clear lacquer flat. The red is just a base coat at this stage, but the shadows and highlights are present. Bob Ross would have called this a happy accident.

I will definitely agree with Bob.
Vallejo Flat red is a great color to use as a base.
Cheers!
