Face update.
Face now painted and the hair given a block in coat of diluted Raw Umber oils.

This will now be left to dry which will take most of the shine off the face and hair.

Despite I don't use black as a straight colour on a figure I have used it as a base blocking in colour for the lacings, cap lines and the Astrakhan fur, this will just be the base for the various greys to bring out the textures.
The tunic cloth colour has blocked in with the dark blue.

Leaving it now to spend time down stairs if I can find the way.

Cheers, Geoff.

Today's progress,

A dilute brown brushed lightly over the fur with a dry-brushing type action to give a sun/weather effect.

Mid grey mixed with German grey mixed and diluted to a semi-wash and lightly applied to the lacing and braid.

Citadel Nuln Oil wash added to the jacket front join and outer sides of the fur.

Buttons painted with a slightly lighter shade of the lacing colour.

Will now leave this to fully dry and then see if anything else needs to be done to improve the look.

Off into town, shopping.

Geoff

Thanks Nap, it does look better in the flesh, so to speak.

Hard luck with the shopping, but it has to be done, ours was luckily only a small one as we are running down the freezer to defrost it.

I did wonder if you had some of Mick's busts in your vast GA.

Geoff.

Very pleased with that mate, I don't like posting them large as they look horrible and shows all the flaws.

Sgt Major is big, it's the Busby. I painted the leather part of the Lancer's Czapka with neat Artist's oils just now so that will be fully dry and hard to do after the next one which will be the 4th Dragoon drummer.

Just going to post the last pics for today as I need to let the dry-brushing dry as I used Artist's oils.

Raining here too but it is looking brighter.

Happy bench time.

Hi Geoff

Very effective work on that lacing mate

Have you done more on the face or is that magic oils ?

Think I will put the chest cords on before I prime ...means Mr Clumsy here won't muck painted areas up !

Nap

PS ...Got Sgt Major

Many thanks Nap, nothing else done to face, just hope I can manage the cords, I have done it before but you never know.

Is the Sgt Major full or "V" bust?
