I do think its a bit short as well. The hand being under the sleeve kind of accentuates it a bit, if the hand were just stuck on the end it would be less noticeable, but less realistic as well. Not having a clear reference of where the elbow is (since the arm is basically straight and in a loose sleeve) makes it hard to determine exactly where everything is, to say if the issue is above or below the elbow. I'm guessing that theres an armature under there that would prevent you from just removing the hand, adding some length to the bottom of the sleeve, and re-attaching the hand?

It's weird... I raised the shoulder seam of the left arm of the figure on the right
in photoshop... one mm. I think it looks good now. How do you like it now??

BTW, thanks to Mike for sharing tips on how to make butter-smooth surface.

Taeson I followed this discussion just a short time.
I saved the pictures and put them together as you did.
In my opinion everything is in balance now. Just i don't like the second finger at his right hand it seems a little to long.
When i hold my thumb at my second finger the end of my thumb will be no longer then the first joint of my second finger. The other two bones are no longer then 1 1/2 the first bone. It looks like you have this a littel to long.
But it could be the angle into picture.

Hi Taesung,

Great work as always. The thing I really like about your figures is that you always manage to find some unusual piece of uniform and put it in an everyday pose, and this one is no different! I've been scouring my references this whole weekend trying to find a reference to this shorter leather ("pleather"? ;) ) tankers jacker, and I've come up with nada! :D All I can find it the 3/4 length jacket which the Soviets used until the '60s. Please put me out of my uniformology research misery - please share your source :D

Rudi :)

Taesung is this the suite you are using for these figures, not much info on them, bit hard to find.
I believe they are a fire resistant uniform.

Here are the figures with a different head.
I think these are now almost done.

The figures are wearing the pleather jacket only, not the whole suit.
I think this uniform was introduced in late 44. Underneath is the normal
tanker's coverall. The coverall can be painted in various shades of grey
or blue.

Taesung, masterpieces my man! Some of your best work ever, in terms of drapery and pose, such a "simple" uniform but yet so complex. Thanks for sharing, the raw sculpts are treat for us :)

Marc,

After taking the latest pics, I shortened the fingers just a bit.
Thanks for pointing it out. :)

the fact they are wearing tanker overalls with the leather jacket makes them even more appealing for painting.
What amazes me most is the way you rendered the star on the visor cap, just fantastic detail.

Carl... These were all the fashion in `44`

Superb work

Steve

Thanks for the compliments and comments, guys!

Actually, this jacket (not the whole suit) is quite seldom
photographed from Fall of 44 and on. You can spot them
from various Russian AFV books.
Most of the pics I found showed the combo of pleather
jacket and coverall.

These figs are now in wet silicone. :)
