Looking good Steve. The sepia wash has given depth to the fur. I wonder if you could go in with a yellow ochre wash with a touch of Raw umber in it to give that yellow background you see on Polar Bears and then follow up with some more light sepia and then a variety of 'white' highlights, it really is a challenge.
I'm pretty much at the same stage and have opted for a brownish grey fur. A lot of work on the back of this one where the hair meets the fur.
Try taking a photo with no flash a dark background, that should show the colour variation better.
Cheers
Derek

That's the plan Del I'm working out with the shades slowly it is creamier than it looks, but it's slow going good idea with the darker background though mate ta (y)

As requested a dark background and no flash.....same crap photographer though

Working on the theory that anything Del can do I can do worser  I've done some more on mine. The helmet is pretty much finished metals wise, I've used enamels as I like those for metallic work. the furs had white added to it and I've also done the cloak clasp and strap buckle in metallic but they are more blocked in than done really. Once again sorry about the photos if I see some daylight I'll try to get them done in that

Promising progress Steve.
I don't know how far you're along with Vik's hair, but that would benefit from a darker wash.
Metals look well,
Carl.(y)

Cheers Carl I agree I've been umming and ahing about a darker wash because it looks kinda flat, any suggestions ?

Hi Steve,
This is progessing very nicely, keep going mate slow and steady. It's nice to see you are getting a lot of sound advice to your questions and are translating this into your work.
I'm picking up quite a few tips for when I paint my first bust.

I have one of those camera's too mate, may be I scrounge Del's old box brownie off him now he's gone digital:D

Keep up the good work
cheers
Richie

Thanks Richie and Ken, Yeah Richie the advice has been very helpful indeed as it's a whole new thing for me, the next bust I'll do the face in oils as it's obviously the way to go from looking at others work on here.

Steve

Depends how badly I screw it up between now and it being finished :nailbiting: This time next week it might be in primer again :cautious: At a guess depending on oils drying etc a week to ten days hopefully would be my guess :shifty:
Steve

Wow thanks Grant coming from you that's a big boost, I'm really chuffed you think so (y) Call me old fashioned but I just like those enamels for metal

Steve

You are doing good Steve , and the metals are very nice, i also use enamels very often for metals , there is though an acrylic stuff , absolutely great especially to cover the resin figures , this is Maimeri silver acrylic , it has a really beautiful silver and it dries quickly, i can only recommend it ..but probably you already know it..
cheers
