Well, not so much to offer. But here`s the first conversion that survived somehow: Airfix 1/76 German Officer WW I (I was about 8 or 9 years old when I felt that my Airfix Germans needed somebody leading from the front:))

My next one sculpted mainly from Duro (based on Bill Horan`s techniques but did not understand them properly) was this 1/16 scale German Paratrooper Officer (later released by Jaguar):

Martin, I now remember you posted that, that is F ing superb. I saved that picture on my computer, a thing now in the cupboard but with oh so much on and saved, now laptops and iPads :-( but it is saved. Your style is john rosengrant and very realistic, smashing. I am sorry that all the time recently we had spoke on here I hadn't realised it was yours, but that's the great thing, there are no expectations.
If that was then, what is your latest piece you are on now? Another thread :)
Brilliant piece mate

Thanks for the comments - yes, it is a while ago (around 1996 I completed the Para). The casing being ejected from the Luger was an idea based on the memories of one of the veterans I know. He remembered that they sometimes ended up in your face when firing.
Gray - due to my job and family obligations I have slowed down but here`s something for you (will open another thread hopefully soon:)):

Hello Graham....great idea here's a pic of a sculpt I did about 15 years ago when I was inspired by David Grieve to have a go myself it's a 100mm Grenadier at Omdurman dedicated to my Great Grandad who was with the Grenadier Guards there ....it's not good I know but bought it home to me that a sculpter I wasn't going to be.....Kevin

Kev, that is brills. We put ourselves down but we can see too much if it is our own. It's great, lovely painting, as always :), and it doesn't look like the DFG, it is unique. More so, it was done with a passion and reason.
And I bet we had more fun doing it then and enjoyment.
Lovely mate and nice that we can share this, our beginnings :)

Thanks for that mate.....It was actually a scratch build I didn't use a DFG Figure but sculpted on a wire armature with wax and then cast in white metal ala David Grieve only wish it was half as good as his .....I think your right about the enjoyment gained at the start of the hobby when it's all new I remember seeing the roll call figures and being amazed anyone could produce such stuff also think its important to keep early efforts to see progress made .....your Grenadier shows your talents were there from the start an excellent effort mate love the flowing Greatcoat.....Kevin

What, that paper thin great coat :)
And as for sculpting, that is brilliant as I thought you used a basic fig, arms little long but rest is fine, better than fine, great.
Get back to it mate, you too have a talent.
I got an old book out the other day, Ray Lambs early ones, I think I have 2 of them somewhere dad gave me, look from them to Poste Militaire.
This could make a segment on its own, love it and enjoy it, we get there in the end :) and then learn more :)

Some good figures here, at first it used to put me off knowing that I would never get to the standard like as shown in this thread, and this is you lot starting. But one day I got given an excellent piece of advice, Do you enjoy what you are doing? Yes. Then carry on doing what you do, and remember most people are like you, don't worry about competitions and medals, just develop your own style, look at other peoples work, and try to improve on each figure, but above all enjoy it, if someone else likes it, then it's a bonus, but if they don't that's fine, you painted it for you, not them. Good advice and once I took that on board and was no longer trying to prove something, then actually I think my painting improved. I still do get a twinge of envy though looking.
