UPDATE :-
You can see from the example pictures the shirts were worn as an overshirt and had a V neck often ending in a rosette with two large pockets. These were often embroidered by wives, sweet hearts or sisters as mentioned in the film "Outlaw Josey Wales" when the kid says his daddy did the needle point because he didn't have no Ma

The picture on the right shows the outlaw Jesse James who rode with Bloody Bill Anderson.

I've made the shirt using Super Sculpey Firm Grey with the trim and pockets made using A+B putty mixed with Kneadatite Green Stuff. As you can see I have made impressions as to where the pistols are going to be.

Update:- With the head in place and the neck smeared with vaseline I built up the inner shirt collar useing A+B putty mixed with Greenstuff. Once it was set I was then able to detach the head for casting purposes.
Tomorrow I should be able to do a neck-tie and make a start on the hat.

Managed to finish the hat and decided to add some feathers . At this stage not sure if it would look better with this shaped hat, what do you think?.

I like the hat in the pic myself Ken looks more ACWish to me, the one on the figure works mind you..... Alternate heads ?:sneaky: will there be a sash/belt round his waist or you going for holsters ? I think this might get bought at Crewe for the missus ;)

Steve

Brian many thanks mate.
Steve I was going for the shot off waist look with the pistols tucked into his belt (no pun intended), but not showing the belt if you know what I mean.:D
I'll take it along to the club show tomorrow and see what the common consensus is.

Cheers Ken

Hi Ken,
Thanks for an insight into your sculpting. I am a great admirer of your skill and talent, good luck with this one, however I have to side with Steve mate, the pistols look like an after thought and seem in limbo suspended in air. I can understand your thinking, but if you put a belt or sash in situe it would elevate the piece no end.
As for the hat, I like it, it makes him look like a Southern gentleman.
cheers
Richie
