Here you can see my scratch ALIEN³ Base. I have used the original Kitbase as a "Base" and the more details I added the wilder I have gone. So there was left nothing from the original Base. The scale is 1:6, not my usual scale to work in, but the Alienfigure sculpting from Bill Merklein is very well made. Only the Base of the kit left a lot to be desired. I incorporated the item in a bigger woodbase and stated superdetailing. The Paining is in progress, it will be a lot more weathered, with a few dry transfers (numbers, stencelling ...), pastells, maybe some liquid medium to represent water and so on. I hope you like it, and I will add some more detail pics.

Jay, thanks for looking! The Rust Effect was done with a product called INSTANT RUST. I have purchased it in an Art Store. It is a two part "colour". One in darkgrey, with ferrumoxide in it. The other part, the activator, let the oxide rust after a short period of time. What you get is real rust!

Hi Frank,

I love this kind of "stuff"... its really interesting all the different
parts and bits and pieces. .. I am looking forward to seeing
the figure in the mist of it all.

I have a very small scale of "junk" and just have not tackled it yet.
Mine would not have a figure.. but it would be fun just to rust things
and add the dirt.. etc. So this gives me some inspiration.

Looking forward to seeing more..

Dee

Hi Frank,

this is extremely well done! I like it a lot.

The rusting effect is beautifully done. I hope you can post some pictures when your groundwork is finished. I think it will look great with those numbers and other stuff painted on..

I reallylike it. Do you already have some picture of the alien itself?

Keep up the good work. (y)

Best wishes

Bart

Frank, Great job on the base. i too like all the little bits and pieces you've added. What are they? Are they parts from tank or ship models? Both? How far along is the figure(s)?~Gary

Wow, guys, thanks a very lot for your comments!

Gary, as far as it goes, all the details are from different kits, mostly old SF-Kits (Star Wars, SF3D) and ships, tanks, cars and a lot of stuff from my sparebox. As a joke, I have scratchbuild the gunturret of the APC from ALIENS in 1:72 and put it in.

Its a lot of work left to do. I will weather the piece more, ev. some more rost patches here and there, maybe some small waterpools, paintchips and general weathering. And the drytransfers, I call them a must!

The Alien³ creature is in work. I have done a painting so far, but now I am not quite satisfied with it. I will post some pics soon and maybe you can add all critques needed. I will definitly repaint the creature.

Dee, go and paint this "hunk of junk"!! It is the most fun, and the more dirt, the better! And show off the results!

Thank you all for looking!

Frank
