Looks great.

Probably bad form to criticize something unless the poster has asked for it by using "WIP critique."

Thanks for all the encouragement. I still have some problems with fitting his torso and head proportions. The head does look a little big but when I add the riding coat it will add more mass to the torso and I think will compensate. A slightly large head would conform to the myth that Bonaparte was a shorter man.

Super duper start to your project John.

These large sculpts by you and Colin are almost
maquettes for bronzes.

Wonderful stuff.

Peedee you're too kind.
Alan No harm in being a Bonapartist. I appreciate your comments. BTW did you know that on this day 200 years ago Ney was shot.

So as you probably know Bonaparte was Italian so it seemed very apt to have him sitting on a plastic covered chair. Been trying to add his coat although this is a long process. His head is still a little large but I went ahead and fixed it on anyway, the bulky coat does help a little to disguise it.

Alan Don't forget Jim Morrison

Moving right along old big head now has two arms. Still working on the rear of his 'redding cote'. And then just his boots to finish off with spurs etc.

Wow John, this is superb, I have watched from the beginning, but my sculpting skills are zilch, so unable to comment on that aspect.
Looking great, cant wait for the next step.
All the best

Paul, Bob and Alan Thanks for your kind remarks.

So I have made a start on painting this piece. I Airbrushed the coat with German Grey from Tamiya just as an undercoat. I then painted the white bits with Jo Sonja Acrylic using a combination of Skin tone Base, Unbleached Titanium and Titanium white. I find these three colours make a fine combination for painting a white finish over a grey base. The boots and the coat are painted in oils, hence the shine which will be dealt with by a coat of Pebeo artists mat varnish. I have also undercoated the flesh parts in Red Earth which I like to work oil paint over.
