I recently finished this guy with Vallejo acrylics. There's a log that goes behind him but I decided to put him next to a pond instead. I made the tall water plants out of paper, used Silflor grass, & Woodland Scenics water effects. The water shrunk a lot more than I expected so I'll need to pour another layer. My success with pictures is real hit or miss so my apologies for that. Any comments, especially criticisms greatly appreciated.

Excellent work Mike. I studied the photos for awhile and can only critique that the deep folds need more shading for better contrast. The skin colors are spot on.

Guy, Marc, & John,

Thank you for your input. I didn't spray him with any kind of finisher so I'll probably hit the deepest shadows one more time as you suggest.
I just wish I had a better handle on my camera. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out but the photos don't do him any justice.

Thanks again.
Mike

Nicley painted Mike and good groudwork, Mountain Men seem to be a popular choice at the moment, what did you use for the rocks on the basework?

Tommi,
Thanks for the compliment. Mtn. men usually aren't my favorite subjects but this one was really easy to paint plus the fact he'd been sitting in my gray army for a while.
The rocks were, for the most part, part of the base supplied by Andrea. I used Sculptamold to build up around Andrea's base.
Thanks again.
Mike

Marcel,

Thanks for the compliment. This one almost painted itself. Plus, Silflor takes a lot of the fuss out of groundwork.
