If that's the Metal Model's Chasseur 54mm; I have one and would be willing to swap, just PM me. Ray

The figure I always wanted was Series 77 150 mm Landsnecht Hans Doring, it was way ahead of its time back when it was released. Finally got one a couple of years ago, still stands up to today's figures.

Cheers David

That was one I was after too David, and I was lucky enough to get one too.......The weight alone and therefore postage cost makes it almost impossible to get now.

Thanks for the references, Mirof, but I've seen them. I have the 54mm Prins August molds, and unfortunately, the only cavalry is a Gardes du Corps standard-bearer, on a walking horse. And the molds from Irregular are too toy-like, even for my purposes.

Fortunately, there are some options on the market. Tradition brought out some figures of British cavalry a couple of years ago. Imrie-Risley French hussars circa 1795 with mirlitons can stand in for hussars of several armies from 1756, and the Revolutionary War British light dragoons can also pass for the 15th LD in the Allied army. Rylit has some cavalry in her catalog, too. John Eden has some of the old Rose British cavalry in his catalog, with tricorns or with miter caps. And the French outfit Art Miniature has some French cavalry figures. I even have the kits that Fusilier sells, from the old Hussar Miniatures line. But despite the length of that list of makers, the actual offering is limited by comparison.

Even Del Prado got into the act, with a single, tantalizingly well sculpted and true 54mm Prussian cuirassier officer at the Battle of Leuthen, but they produced no other Prussian SYW cavalry.

Imrie-Risley and Rose kits also offer some kitbashing possibilities, especially in the varied poses of the horses.

But it would still be nice if someone brought out some new figures, in more varied poses.

Prost!

I was after the Almond 90mm mounted Capt. Manhes but got him on eBay. All I can think of that I would love to stumble across is the complete Suren/Willie range of 30mm Light Brigade figures that I saw in his London shop in the early 70's.

One kit that I would like is the EVD Egyptian chariot but that's out of production.

Some of those Benassi 75mm at Hinchliffe

Was he a Major !! told me he was a Count  or was he a pilot
He certainly had an imagination thats for sure  as he drove about in his Midnight blue and cream two tone Hillman Gazell in which if he got stopped by the police he would pretend not to speak any English :) his words
He done a nice conversion of Airfix Scots Greys charge at Waterloo and sold it to the Collator and owner of Jacksons Crazy House at Glasgow cross in the Early seventies .
A lot of his Painted work ended up there , and Im sure some of his masters too

To my regret I never met Julian - he'd stopped designing/sculpting for Hinchliffe Models before I was involved with them. I know there were a few unreleased figures which they had & the masters were scrapped. Pity.

Not because of any great intrisic merit in the piece but I am on the lookout for the Verlinden 120mm French Artillery Train figure. It's the one shown leaning against a cannon wheel on the boxart. I have the cannon wheel (along with the rest of the cannon!).

Is this the same as the "itchy rider" figure in Military Modelling some years ago?
