Hi again guys,
just thought you might like a look at my latest 200mm bust! An ANZAC in Gallipoli 1915. Apologies for the sofa in the background, but it is late!!
I am almost finished, there is an alternative slouch hat, brim up, with capbadge - am working on that at the moment. I will post some better pics at the weekend, all being well.
cheers
Steve

Steve ,
I agree that dog tags would be a nice addition and add that little bit more interest, just hanging out the shirt perhaps .

The identity discs or "dog tags" of Australian soldiers of the First World War were initially made of aluminum and then made of a fibre material. Like other soldiers of the Great War the Australian 'Diggers' were issued an identity tag or disc. The first official disc was a small flat metal disc of aluminum, then there were two identity discs issued, made of fibreone was a red disc the other was grey and octagonal.
The discs were usually stamped with the information that the Military required. The Regimental number, Regimental name, soldiers' surname and initials and his religion were on the tag.

here's a couple of pictures to work from

Steve,

Generally the size was approx 1 3/8th inch, but as with everything there are variations both in style and what they were made of ,the lozenge shaped was approx 30mm high by 35m wide.

Hi Guys,
here are some more pics of the ANZAC -with "field modifications"! ive extended the torso a little, bottom row pouches not yet complete, widened the brim on the hat about 2mm and sculpted an alternative headgear, with cap badge. Not got onto dogtags yet, but Sunday's another day! Apologies again for the grainy images!

Great work Steve. The ammo pouches look very good.

Just one observation; with the head tilted up and back at such an extreme angle, the muscles and veins in his neck would be quite pronounced. I'd personally like to see you add a bit more detail to the neck area to see the muscles straining and perhaps add a bit more character to the head and face.;)

Hi Tony,
thanks for the comments - based on what you suggested, ive added crows feet around the eyes, exaggerated the neck tendon slightly and added more facial creases! i used my son as a model - maybe i should have used someone older! i think i took my eye off the ball and got sidetracked with the equipment! Oh, and dogtags!!
Cheers
