Nice start on the ground work. I wouldn't know where to look for British mess tins though, I would have said Verlinden but I don't know if they are still trading or not. In 1/35th they would be small and fiddly to scratch build unless you make them from brass sheet, or someone makes photo etched ones.

Well I have cracked on today after an early finish and more or less got the war corresspondents vignette finished.
