Hi Richie

That is going to look so good framed and on the wall and what a inspiration as well

Excuse my ignorance is the Sgt in the middle depicting a particular soldier ?

Enjoy the awesome picture

Nap

Hi Nap,
Totally agree a very inspirational piece, just had to buy for the reference factor too. I could have used the other reference above from the net,
but The Friends of the 10th are a charity. So also supporting this charity I get double the pleasure and contribting in a very small way to their legacy.

Honest answer to the other question.....I don't know. I would think because of the title of the piece they would have had a good idea
who made the last the last stand due to their research. I don't know if the artist sort out this information or not.

Five hundred and eighty two brave souls entered Arnhem from the 10th and only 36 made it out.

cheers

Hi All,
Sorry it's been a while but work got in the way. Other than sticking this to a base and painting three rifles it is finished. I have also been working on the hand to hand piece and Death Comes to Onderlands, as well as amassing some bits for the Oosterbeek diorama. I have also made some moulds for a new figure I commissioned, hopefully will get a test cast done tomorrow.
It will be a pair of figures and completely different.
cheers

Hi Richie

That’s a lot of camo , figures look good ,presume you’ll weather in them and the bushes when possible

Look forward to seeing more on Onderlands and the others

Like all think the 2 “completely different” figures does sound intriguing

Have fun @ the bench

Hi Simon, Nigel & Nap,
Thank you so much.

Hi All,
When I think of Arnhem the most stand out figure for me has always been Sandy Cortmann from the iconic photo.
This is my 1/16 scale version I have lashed together after getting the moulds ready yesterday. Would like to thank Ariel
and Mark for their assistance on this one. I will also be doing a 1/35 version I need to put him in a vignette.
cheers

Hi Simon,
Thank you, it has always been the figure for me personally.
Cheers Richie
P.S. Just found out the the second figure from the right in the iconic photo married a lass from Hartlepool and his son still lives in the town. That's two families from here who had fathers who fought at Arnhem.

Good Northern lads leading from the front. One of the Ox & Bucks LI lads from Pegasus Bridge a Sgt Thornton transfered into the Regt, not sure which battalion but apparently he jumped at Arnhem as well.

Cheers Simon

Hi mate,
Thank you, yes it's turning into a big project but loving it. I saw your post with the Para's and drop cannister, very nice
I thought about ordering one but I've got far too much going on at the minute and would want to start it.
cheers

Hi Richie

Catching up a bit , a fine decision to do that figure based on a iconic picture ...epitomises the bravery and the word “Arnhem”

Looking forward to seeing the larger piece painted up and the 1/35th in the Diorama

Great thread here so big thanks for sharing

Have fun @ the bench
