HeyGuy!

The purple turned out awesome! That is one color that I really like when painted, that and red :) I also agree wth Joe, that the pictures are getting so much better.

Today I did the last of the drybrushing on the tunic and the leg wraps. Here is the drybrush cards that show the progression of dark on the left to lighter on the right.

I have never done Samurai Armor before so this is going to be a learning experience for me. I think I have it all worked out in my mind on how to do it. We'll see. This is a closeup of the back showing the folds and blends

Thanks Robin and John for the kind words.

John, I am working on the design for the tunic now and hope to have some pics up later this afternoon, early evening.

Looks great Guy, you have given me some ideas on how to think and apply thoughts on my subjects

Thanks Larry, here is the 1st of 4 pics showing the design in the various stages of application. Not sure if I like the way it came out but I have to remember it will look totally different with the armor on and painted.

Now the second color is applied using the stipple technique and making very soft jabs onto the tunic. (whole new meaning to using the wildest brush you have with the hairs going in all directions)

I knew it was the time to fasten both leg halfs together and besides I knew it would give me a better perspective of the design appearance too.

I was not trying to get a good pic of the total figure but concentrated on the tunic area and didn't worry about the head. Here is the side view.
All comments are welcome!!!!!!! good and bad!!!!!!!!

I'll make the first comment..............looks like chit! I will have to go further with the tunic as I don't like the way it turned out.......oh well!

Guy,a very good first attempt on the tunic pattern (y) Japanese patterns can really be difficult to replicate in scale and yours is a commendable first attempt Keep at it,my friend, and post more when you are done.Have you tried painting yellow flower designs onto the pattern that you have now It may work.Cheers Kenneth.

Hi Guy,

I remember reading an article on painting Japanese patterns years ago, and it said to remember that they were printed silk and in a uniform pattern. The trick apparently is "less is more".

Personally I think it looks great, but if you're going to redo....

Richard

Thanks Robin & Richard, I have moved on th the armor until I figure out what I am going to do with the tunic. It sure won't be the first time something didn't work out as planned
