All your stuff looks great Guy. No need to be discouraged. Wish I had half your painting talent. I'm sure he'll turn out just fine when he's completed.

Thanks for your vote of confidence Jim, Your talent speaks well for itself as well. I will work out the problem with the tunic as I have with similiar situations in the past.

An update on my "Fantasy Samurai". I decided to leave the tunic the color it is and remember the fact they would not have purple tunics as Quang pointed out. The armor plates have taken some time as I had to give them each 2 coats of paint. The bottom half is about done and ready to go on the base.

Guy the stuff you call bad looks better than my good day stuff. I always like to keep the KISS principle in mind when painting. I know you will produce a knock out figure when you have got him the way you like.

Hey Guy,

I like the colors that you have chosen. I look forward to seeing it when you are done. My hat is off to you for tackling such a complex figure. (y)

Joe

Guy,

Never mind what I said about purple.

What counts is that it looks good to you. Remember, it's YOUR cupboard!

Looking forward to the next step. (y)

Thanks Joe, I have enjoyed the complexity of the figure and look forward to the next Samurai.

Thanks Quang,
That is pretty much what my conclusion was as well. I liked the way the tunic turned out and after all, like you said, Its my cupboard

Thanks Kenneth, I appreciate your encouragement. Although I strive to be as accurate as possible when doing a historical figure, I still paint for my pleasure and my eyes and enjoyment. So many painters I have met seem to paint for the judges eyes........and thus not really getting the results that they would of liked to have.

Worked on the chest armor and got the waist belt and armor gold trim done. Fastened the 2 body halfs together and he not sets temporarily on the base.

Side view. Not sure about grasses and weeds as yet and will play with this before making the decision.
All comments, good, bad or otherwise are always welcome!

Love the integration of the figure in to the base groundwork.

Sometimes this is a neglected portion of the overall effect for some modelers (me :( ) But, this is really nice.

Looking good,Guy;wish I could be just as prolific as yourself One question:is that an S and T base that you are using ? If so,what's the size of it ? Drop me an e-mail off-line if it is not too much trouble,Guy.Thanks As always, still taking notes.Cheers.
Kenneth

Thanks Keith and Kenneth. The base size is 3 1/4 X 1 7/8 high and is a Ken Thomas base. Here is the front view of the finished base with the groundwork. You can see the figure hole in the center of the picture.

Kenneth

While I had the Photo stuff out I thought I would go ahead and shoot the pics of the Ashigaru. The sword is almost complete and will be attached tonight. The final pic with the sword will be in the gallery. Any comments are always welcome.
