Though I'm not a WW2 fan Maurice is doing some of the finest WW2 stuff around. His figures look very natural and the clothing and equipment look spot on.~Gary

quality

Another superb sculpt mate! You seem to raise the quality level with each new release-very well done!!!:) :) :)

That looks great Maurice! The fine details look really nicely done and the drapery looks good. Besides, anything with an StG44 is a winner in my book :)

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. Dan I`ll try and think of something, most things seem to have been covered very competently by other sculptors but if you have any suggestions.

Great looking figure Maurice and nice equipment additions, makes the figure all the more exiting i think.Good choice adding the zeltban, gives good variation for the uniform.Do you have any ww2 russians in the pipeline?

Maurice - Do I have suggestions? If you knew me better, you probably wouldn't ask that question! :)

How about an armature-to-completion SBS of a Great War figure? How about a 1914 French officer advancing? Or a Tirailleur Senegalais in moutarde khaki 1916 uniform? I can provide reference materials if you need them.

All the best,
Dan

Maurice, a question regarding this figure

Hi Maurice,
This is probably one that I will pick up, but I would like to know if the Magazine pouches for the STG-44 are seperate, and if so, is the uniform underneath where the pouches go indented to conform to the pouches? I ask because I would like to have the guy carrying a captured PPSh, so the pouches would have to go, and I wonder how much resculpting would be involved.
Thanks
Jason

Dan
I`ll have a think about it, i could certainly do an sbs armature to finish although i think there are better sculptors than me that have done this before, i`ll give it a go.
Jason
yes the pouches are seperate and you would need to build up those parts of the poncho where the pouches locate. I can send you a picture of the lower half unassembled if you give me youe email address.
all the best
Maurice

Maurice - Can't say for everyone else, but I'm most interested in your (and other sculptors) working methods and what works for you (them) and what doesn't. For example, I'm working on a figure for casting for the first time and using a tip from Anders Heintz for keeping the separate parts separate, yet ensuring they fit properly. Actually, I think I may have made a small improvement over his suggestion of coating one part with a film of vaseline to keep them separated. I'm using a thick oil instead - flows better easier to get a good even distribution.

All the best,
Dan

i used to use vaseline but now use olive oil, it does pretty much the same job but I find it lets a a certain ammount of adhesion which you need, then its a kind of a gentle snap to get the parts to seperate, plus the ammount of olive oil i`m ingesting means i`m going to live forever. I use miliput so over the years i`ve developed some techniques for speed which may be useful,
maurice
