A Fixture
Austro-Hungarian Ulans went to war in 1914 wearing rather bright red and blue uniforms, well-polished boots, but covering their Tschapkas with drab grey or light brown cloth covers. Camouflage...? Anachronisms like this are one of the many things that draw me to the period.
I debated whether or not to add the horse tail bit to the Tschapka. I have period photos with cavalrymen wearing it and some not wearing it.
The cavalryman is in 1/16th scale. The horse, boots, ammo containers, hands and head come from various kits. A Reedee's miniatures Steyr rifle was cut down to M1895 carbine size and
shape. I used mixes of Magic Sculpt and Kneadatite, although most of the exterior bits are MS
only. Hope you like it!
All the best,
Dan
