Smashing finish on the helmet, very realistic.
It's coming along really well.
It's often easy to underestimate how hard it is to paint a WW2 Tommy.
No room for error........that's why I do ancients and medieval.

Thanks Derek, helmet took ages to get the right look, they are tough lots of variations in equipment etc and also painting one colour uniforms means you have to be on the ball with your highlight and shading, but I do like the average soldier subjects.

Just need more time to paint, not having a lot of it at the minute going through a rough patch with my Autistic son at the moment and as I am primary carer for him buck stops here.

So I end up being one of the slowest painters on here but will paint and post as soon as I can

Done some more work on the webbing and the gas cape



webbing has been has received final highlight and shade,

the gas cape has had several washes of black, sepia and smokey inks thinned with water but not to much so the surface has a slight gloss to it, in keeping with the waxy look of the original gas cape as shown below

Hopefully will get some more done soon, been rearranging my desk and bedroom where it is located has been a no go zone whilst my wife has been studying for Nursing exams so not got much done

Got some more work done on the flesh tones, metal base coats, hair and eyebrows base and the linen tapes to tie the gas cape roll to the backpack and over the shoulders to the gas mask bag

Got more done today, finished the eyes although you can't tell with the squint, finished the brass and washed the string to give more yellowy feel and a bit of tidying up
