Here are a few pictures of my Brigadier, 2e Regiment de Guides, 1914. It is a 54mm piece by Metal Modeles and an absolute joy to paint. It is only my third piece in acrylics since changing over. The face is still done in oils though. Any comments always welcomed.

Over all this turned out very nicely. I personally would like to see more contrasts, particularly in your fleshtones. Keep it up!

Ross,
A really nice specimen, especially since it's your third with acrylics. I wonder if the hat might benefit from some additional highligts and/or variation in the color. Was it made from bearfur or other natural material? If so, maybe a bit of additional contrast to enhance the look of fur. But all in all, an excellent job...I especially like the dirt/weathering at the bottom of the cloak.

Cheers Guys. Working on the contrasts. The face is actually very subtle and my photography is not very good. I was trying to go for a pasty look. Changing to acrylics has been a lot of fun. I like a new challenge.

Liebovitz's piece is based upon the following painting.

Nice work Ross. That's the illustration I used when I painted my Guide.
I also struggle with photography and lose a lot of the contrast between colours.
Concentrate on the painting mate and worry about the photography later:)

Hi Ross,

I always enjoy seeing a figure of the Great War. I happily note that more Belgian figures are being posted and look forward to more unusual coverage of this period.
