Wouldn't want to run into that one on a dark night...

....come to think of it, not on a bright day and anything in between either....

Your right there

Great work, I remember him from the comics, is the blue armband a specific Branch?
Scotty.

The Armband is for Military Police ...will be a lot darker !

Nap Ive just recently completed this one as well. Same idea with the medal ribbons except I gave him the two Boer War medals and the LS&GC , as the 14-15 star was awarded post WW1.

Hi Jimmy

Nice to see you posting , please do share your version in the Completed forum

The ribbons should read Queens and Kings South African medals, 1914 Star( Mons) ....not the 14/15 Star which was awarded as you rightly say

Thank you for highlighting this

I might change it to the LS & GC

In the Osprey plate by Mike Chappell , the L/Cpl wears the 2 SA medals , the Mons star and the LS& GC

Never were my favourite branch of the army, always getting in the way of a good night out. They used to get their revenge for our Saturday night antics by deciding there was a bomb scare at about 0700 on a Sunday morning and rousing the whole barracks. Fiendish swine!

Changes look good Kev.

Cheers Simon

Just had a re-read of my Charleys War. Sgt Bacon ( known as 'the Beast"), Military Foot Police comes into the story in August 1916. No back story on him but realistic to give him some ribbons as a pre war regular soldier, and as the MFP had been around since 1885 and was a large Corps by wars end. I was tempted to give him an MM to add a bit of colour ( many of the MFP were decorated) but it sort of didn't fit with the comics depiction of character. Interestingly he doesn't wear a Sam Browne in the comic strip and credit to the sculptor for adding some better detail. Very enjoyable paint and recommended kit.

Hi Jimmy

Your right many MFP were awarded bravery medals but I wasn’t going to give mine one , agree with you just would fit into the piece

As you see in my pics I added a belt and reworked the strap to a SB , adding the small pouch seen in original pics

Thinking about doing something with the moustache ......maybe ??

Look forward to seeing your version

Looks good Kev
Was quite tempted when I saw the bust a while back, but thought it looked a tad 'cartoony' - I now understand why :D (I'll bet Marcus will get one)

Paul

Hi Planey

It is cartoonishly as you say but hey who doesn’t like these fine fellows ...lol

Should be fun to paint

Hope we see some of your planes with figures here on PF

Stay tuned on this one

Have fun at your aerodrome

I must admit whenever I see this bust I think it is creepy, I now understand that it should be that way as it is based on a comic character. Having the red eyes and manic grin is creeping me out again but I'm certain that you will turn this around and it will be an enjoyable and hopefully a less creepy realisation. Maybe.
Good work
Melanie

Hi Melanie

Your right it is a tad creepy , thought about changing the mouth ...but I know my limit! ....just going to keep to my additions shown.....suppose you could say he has character !

Would like to see a fantasy painter have a go at this with the lighting effects

Thanks for looking in
