I sure many here recognize this pic. It's a trumpeter from the Boer War.

I recently obtained the New Hope Design 54mm figure based on this drawing. In the kit it indicates that the trumpeter is from the 17th Lancers. The pic would seem to indicate that the horse is a dark shade (brown/black).

I there a way to find out if indeed the trumpeter rode a distinct color horse, or were these formalities suspended/relaxed during the strains of war?

Also, was this figure ever done by another maker or in another scale size?

Thanks for the help, Chuck

All the Queens Men figures (80mm and above) are now owned by Foxwood Figures, so we can confirm that both Geoff and Tom are right. The figure is 80mm and currently still cast in white metal. Paints up well too. See pictrure below! The horse colour instructions we inherited state that the horse can be painted as bay, chestnut or black.

Thanks all for the info.

Foxwood Figures/Jackie...Do your "inherited instruction" indicate that the figure is a 17th Lancer? I also have a reference the the figure is from the 5th Royal Irish Lancers? I'm sure it could be painted to represent any of the mounted lancer unit from that time period, just curious.

How do I contact you for prices & ordering info etc.?

Thanks Mirofsoft!

Also... a big THANKS for your site of old catalogs. That's a godsend for old figure info. I was able to look up all the old DEK figures there.(y)

Hello

pleased you found something
do you have, by chance, any catalog in digital form, that is not yet on my site and you want to share for all to enjoy ?
Best

I'm hoping to sculpt one of these in 120mm for Victory Miniatures in time if I can persuade Keith (of V M) that there will be a market. Concentrating on WW1 figures at present.
