You always lose contrast with oils in the drying process Gerry ,there are two options you overcompensate in the initial paint or go back in after all has dried which has more control.

Yes Ron I always go over wet on dry and some washes here and there, its always a thing with oils the contrast stage looks better when you 'Add' to on the final work , good ol oils hey!
