Hi Bassman,
Are you doing a model of him at Rorke's Drift? I have attached a couple of photo's for you. The first is the Rorke's Drift survivors and a close up of Lt. Bromhead from the right of the picture with the dog. This photo shows him in an other ranks 5 button tunic, the cuffs have the regimental facings & Austrian knot. The collar is obscured by the beard but I would guess either no insignia (the old adage shoot the officers first syndrome) or the sphinx collar insignia.(attached)
If you want to give him rank insignia then a single crown with regimental facings would be on the collar to depict a lieutenant. This link will give you an idea. http://www.victorianstrollers.co.uk/stevesuniforms/ranks.html
If you want anything else just shout.
cheers
Richie
Richie,
Thanks for the info. I'm working on Maurice Corry's Lt. Bromhead, and I now think he is wearing the other rank's tunic. The thread on the Rorke's Drift bust clarified it more for me. I think you had posted photo's which
showed the tunic I think Maurice based the figure on. Again thanks for the response, and thank you Steve for your help also.
Hi Rod,
I have this figure (still waiting in a long queue of Zulu war figures) and he is wearing the O.R. five button tunic. I look forward to seeing what you do with figure and your next post. Here is an original other ranks tunic that I photographed in the Brecon 24th museum. As you can see no cuff or collar insignia. If you need anymore reference for the Zulu war period give me a shout, I have loads of books on the period and I can always e-mail Bill the curator of the 24th museum if I don't have it.
cheers
Richie
