A little more progress , the tunic is finished and the lace detail needs one more coat. The shako is nearly complete only the rosette to paint up.
An interesting fact about the shako, it was locally made and formed on a rattan frame covered with blue cloth.
I have now attached the back pack and just need to complete the musket and the sabre with bayonet sheath. I don't know wether the sabre had a sword knot but it has been painted.

Another couple of days work and should be complete.

Superbe travail sur un sujet français... Oups in English please...
So a superb work on French subject.
A little precision concerning "l'Île de la Réunion",
First it's a French department like the other 95 metropolitan ones, and 4 overseas (Martinique, Guadeloupe, Mayotte and La Réunion)
At the time of its taking possession by France in the seventeenth century, the island was named Bourbon, named after the then reigning dynasty. To break with this name too attached to the Old Regime, the National Convention decides March 23, 17936, to rename the territory island of Reunion. This choice could have been made in tribute to the meeting of the Federals of Marseilles and the National Guards who preceded the insurrection of August 10, 1792 and the march on the palace of the Tuileries but no document justifies it and the meaning of the word " meeting "could have been purely symbolic7.

The island changed its name again in the nineteenth century: in 1806, under the First Empire, General Decaen baptized Ile Bonaparte then, in 1810, it became Bourbon Island. It becomes definitively island of Reunion at the fall of the monarchy of July by a decree of the provisional government of March 7, 18488.

In accordance with the original spelling and the classic orthographic and typographical rules9 "La Réunion" is written with a lower case in the article but, during the end of the 20th century, the writing "La Réunion" with a capital letter was developed in many writings to emphasize the integration of the article in the name.

Superb island, known for its superb beaches, its surf spots (watch out for sharks), and its still active volcano (La Fournaise)

An island that I advise you to visit if you like good food,
quality rum, hiking or beach with a turquoise blue sea, surfing (and sharks) ...
Concerning the subject " Chasseur de la Réunion":
les chasseurs de la réunion were created in 1803, with a company artillery is other units for defend the French islands, they were composed mostly of black framing by whites.

Many thanks for the input, Google is also very good for the history of the islands of the Indian Ocean. I also have this resource.
chasseurs de la Reunion officier et soldat par Boisselier (1).jpg La Reunion.jpg

Thank you for your information and kind coment

Just something not writing in Google.
Now in "La Réunion", there's some French troops and especially the 2nd RPIMA (Régiment Parachutiste d'Infanterie de Marine), sister regiment of the 1st RPIMA (French SAS/Bayonne).
These regiments are considered worldwide as good if not better than the English SAS.
So now we have on this island what to receive an invader ....;)

Looking good Bob and will be a colourful addition to your collection when completed.

Isle de la Reunion would probably been a good place to sit out the Napoleonic Wars as long as you stayed away from those sharks. I always enjoy Zastrow's input but I wish I had the ability on my American keyboard to correctly punctuate French words!

Many thanks for your input Guy's.
