Any suggestions for colour mixes for chassuer green in Vallejo.
Always have trouble with greens

It was a very dark greeen...:

I would use a ground-mix of "Extra Dark Green" (nearly 80 %) and "Oxford Blue" (nearly 20 %). For the shadows a bit "German Field Grey" to the grund-mix and for the lights some "Light flesh"...:

If you want to mix it from scratch then I'd recommend you start with a dark blue that you find reliably gives you a matt finish, then add in a little something like Yellow Ochre until the colour looks about right. If it's not dark enough, just add a touch of black.

If it's a little too dark then adding in a small amount of white can work, but a little of a light flesh mixture will often give a better result (slightly duller).

A flesh colour can also be a good choice for highlighting the green; for the shadows on a green this dark you really don't need anything other than black.

I just finished a Chassuer a Cheval (in WIP) and this is the green mix I used:

Base- 970 Deep Green + 875 Biege Brown + 950 Black
Highlight- Base + 970 + 955 Matt Flesh
Shade- Base + 950

The numbers are Vallejo Model Colour numbers. The ratios are by eye.

Hope this helps you
