Just seen this in the German news.
A Panther tank (minus its tracks) from WWII has been found in the cellar (described as an "underground hall on several levels") of an elderly bloke near Kiel in Germany. He also had a flak gun down there. The German army had a bit of a job getting it out prior to confiscating it, carting it off on a low-loader to a military facility.
The authorities are now investigating to see if the man (described as a "collector") has broken any laws by keeping the thing. He is countering that by claiming that it is "demilitarised" and properly registered (and says he has documents to prove it) and is claiming compensation for the hassle. And he wants his Panther back.
Always amazes and fascinates me when these things turn up (pulled out of lakes or whatever). A piece of history rediscovered.
