It might seem that I've been very prolific lately, what with three posts in about a month, but I have been on a short holiday from work and have taken advantage of the time to finish up some figures that have been staring at me for a while. This Ronin for example has been in a state of near completion for over a year (I picked him up at MMSI in Chicago in 2007!). I just finished him off yesterday, completing the groundwork which is a job I usually hate. But thanks to my local craft shop, I was able to find some bamboo sticks of just the right size. So after countless hours of gluing bamboo shoots and leaves (made out of wire and paper) onto the sticks, I was satisfied with the final results. I still may need to do a few touch ups here and there so let me know if you spot something.

Thanks Magister; The bamboo sticks I purchased at a local craft store, and I think they are meant to be used for flower arrangments and things like that. They came in rather large bundles, but there were a few that were small enough that they fit the scale. I used wire for the bamboo shoots and paper for the leaves. As you can imagine this took some time. After some acrylic painting to get the right shade of green, I arrived at the point that you see in the post. I don't think there are any ready made bamboo trees available in 75mm scale (believe me I looked), so making them was my only option. I hope this helps.

Excellent work Glen. How about a shot of the whole thing just a tad bit further back so we can get an idea of the layout as a whole. Bamboo is cool BTW!

That is a beautiful piece Glen! I really like everything about it, the figure, the groundwork, and the atomosphere. The armor is excellent! Great work and thanks for posting!

Fantastic work Glen. This is one of my favorite Samurai's and the addition of the Bamboo really sets him off.
