I had been looking at this bust from DG Artwork for sometime and finally got one from Steve Kirtley.

P1120510 (3).JPG

It's a lovely sculpted 1/9th bust and I have been working on him on and off for just over a week now. I started on the head using my usual Artist's oils.

The tropical helmet, etc has had the colours blocked in, the tea stained helmet makes a change from the usual white colour.

Still lots to do on this.

The tunic has had the first colours applied.

And this is where it will stay until after Christmas, unless I can sneak up to the "Hanger" for the odd hour.

Its come a long way Geoff, looking very nice.

Excellent work so far Geoff, i guess he wont be ready for the new year celebrations:)
Happy new year to you and your family!!!

A top job, so far! I quite like the look of this one myself, but I would have to lose the floating hand, or sculpt an arm!(y)

Many thanks Guys, I wasn't sure about the hand, but at least it is a gauntlet not a bare hand.
No it certainly will not be ready for the new year celebrations.

Happy New Year modelling/painting friends and hope you all have healthy and prosperous 2018

More progress in the last few days now we are back to normal after the festivities.

Detailing on the tunic and belts. Leather work done in Artist's oils over the acrylic undercoat.

Tropical helmet fixed to head.

I shall now leave it for the oil paint to dry before finishing and giving the tunic a coat of matt varnish to remove the shine.

A bit more done,
Tunic flatted, it looks flatter in the flesh must be the lighting.
White collar made to look grubby then head fixed in place.

I had painted the gauntlet a light colour as per the box art but after looking at some reference they all seem to be brown leather so have started to repaint them in Artist's oils with a difference mix to the holster so there will be a slight contrast. (pics later)

I have now finished the bust, the gauntlet is now dry and attached in the slot provided.

I used the supplied lead wire, and not the resin part, for the lanyard after drilling 2 holes in the moulded ends on the holster and the bust

Really pleased with the end result, and shall be looking at DG Artworks again for other busts that catch my eye.
