Starting this model tonight. A fellow Mod on Army Rumour Service advised me to get a decent M16A1 as the kit supplied one is not up to scratch. A quick order placed with Reedees and lo and behold, a pair of pristine M16's arrived. They are very nicely moulded and not distorted, unlike the one supplied with the model. Tonight will be spent cleaning everything up and then a bath (for the model, not me) in warm, soapy water. For those of you who do not model with resin, it is always advisable to wash any pieces to remove any trades of mould release oil. Hope I'm not teaching others to suck eggs. The model pieces will be left to dry overnight; I don't want to risk distorting any pieces by using artificial driers.

Hi Rob

Hope we see the build in V Bench as a WIP ...be good to see how you tackle the paint

Happy benchtime

The award citation mentions the "the skill and stealth" of his patrol and yet the painting and figure shows him skylining himself like an airsofter.

Trust me, when those events were taking place, he wasn't skylining himself. What you don't see is the chuffing great slab of rock behind him which meant he was in cover all the time. The citation also mentions "the patrol" but Sgt Matter is modelled on his own! Is that wrong as well? There has to be a certain amount of licence in any of these models.

Finished. Sorry I was unable to do a build report, busy on Army Rumour Service. All paints used are Vallejo Acrylics and Life Colour Liquid Pigments.

Hope they're up to scratch for you all.
