While I am painting the German in Stalingrad I want to show you the bust that I sculpted before.
It is based on a gouache by Olaf Jordan, one of the painters attached to front units by the germans during WWII.
He made a series of wonderful portraits of soldiers in the Germany´s Cossack Division.
This one was entitled "Chief Nikichor Nikitisch Simonjenko". He seemed to be a veteran NCO. Under the tunic of the Wehrmacht he wear a Gimnastiorka...

I made a mistake with the pics ...

Here they are

Beautifully done! And I'm with Rob, fantastic 'stache! Will this be available commercially? I'm a big fan of the Cossacks, and this is a nice character. Would be fun to paint!

Thank you, Rob and Jay.
The moustache was a bit tricky. It broke several times and after MS I tried Green Stuff and, finally, made it with Brown Stuff.
If this bust would be for production, the moustache had to be a separate piece!

Bonito busto Diego las facciones estan sensacional.
Espero sea comercial pronto.
Un saludo Jose Luis

I have a bust of this very same subject done by the now defunct Plowshare Armoury. Diego, will yours be a commericial piece or a one off, it is a terrific sculpt and one of my favorite subjects?

¿Excelente!, ¡genial! ... No sé qué más te puedo decir. Bueno sí, ¿lo vas a comercializar?

Un saludo

Jaime

P.D.: Esto sí que se merece tomar unas cañitas... aunque sea la primera ronda la pago yo, je, je, je

Thanks gents!
I am glad that you like it.
Unfortunately is not a commision I have made it just because I wanted, so is not going to be commercial.
I want to do some more busts based on these portraits. Years ago Fort Duquesne released a bust of the Division´s commander (von Pannwitz) that was the first that I did.
