Hey everyone,

Here's an original piece I sculpted with Aves Apoxie. It is 80MM in size. It is painted with vallejos. Thank goodness for a Windsor & Newton series 7 red sable #000 and a #10 Opti-Visor or those uniform logo's wouldn't have been possible  . Thanks for letting me share it with you.

Cheers,
Bob Waltman

Hey Alex,

Thank you for your comments. Yes I painted all of the lettering and logos. Because of the amount, the piece took about three months to complete (off and on).

Take care,
Bob Waltman

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Joe,
I did several years back. I had first tried my hand at a 54MM Jeff Gordon (Jim, it was for a female friend, not me  ) but found that was much to small for me to try and paint all of the logos on his uniform  :) . I have also been working on a Dale Jr fig as a matching piece.

BTW, will you be making the Atlanta show this year?

Take care,
Bob Waltman

Hey Bob,

I thought that I remembered seeing it. I look forward to seeing Jr. I will be in Atlanta this year and look forward to seeing you and your work.

Joe

Very cool!

I'm not a big car racing fan, but your figure and awesome paintwork are inspiring! You are a brave man to paint all those logos!!

Excellent job!

Andy

Great to see Dale again. I still remember seeing him. You really did a good job nailing the likeness. Something that's very hard to do, much less sculpting a figure but of course there's the inspiration. Did you get your copy of "3" with the extra scenes? I can't remember if you told me you did or not. What about Rusty? No, not what you wish you had in your hand but a figure. For that matter, what self respectin' redneck of the first order (who can sculpt) wouldn't want to the "The Greats"? The King at the top of course  I agree with Joe, I too look forward to seeing Jr. soon.

Take care and see you soon,
Jim Patrick

By the way, the wife is warming up to a trip to the beach in March. I was thinking Florida. Do you know of any good locations in your state that would be great for "family" entertainment? ;)

Hey Jim,

Yes I got a copy of "3", and yes I've watched it several times. Bill has asked me about sculpting a Rusty (as well as drinking a few  ). Maybe now that he's retiring.

As far as a great place in Florida. Well lets see, in conjunction with the beaches here in Pensacola, there just happens to be a figure show around the 25/26 of March. I'll be posting details soon on it. Wow, what a coincedence??? (y)

Take care,

Bob Waltman

Bob,

As a new fan to NASCAR (note my number 9 image to the left!), I really like your figure. I've thought about doing a NASCAR driver, too, but I'm not a great sculptor so would need to convert a figure that was already 90 percent there. As for the sponsor logos, I actually thought about having decals made for them.

Now that I think about it, a bust would be really cool....
