Any tips on this guys as far as colour back ground lighting etc. I think I need some

I would suggest getting a light blue backgorund, it seam to show off colors well. As far as lighting, I use 2 100W lightbulbs, one on each side of the figure, keeping them at about 45º from the figure, about 10-15cm away. For super closeups I bring the lamps a little closer as to really light up all the crevecis to get a good picture.

Hope this helps :)

Good suggestions from Anders.

I use a light gray cardboard background that curves up. I can send you some pics of figure photo set ups if you are interested. PM me your email address if you would like me to send them to you.

If possible use the same lighting fixtures that you painted the figure under.

Also, use a tripod. This makes a huge difference in the clearness of my photo's. You can get a serviceable one for ~$20 in the US (if you were in the US that is... )

Also check your white balance- see if your camera can do a custom balance (check your manual). Thay way the colors will be right. I like to use a white background, but whatever you like is what matters. What Keith and Anders said- ditto.

I use cheezy desk lamps and 100 w or 75 w bulbs, tripod, and peice of poster board background. It is suprisingly easy to do. Check my website- all the pics were taken that way- http://members.cox.net/custmini

Keith that first article is really good. I like the model stand idea. On a tripod it would be fully adjustable and portable. It beats clearing a space on the cluttered workbench.

Matt-

I just don't have the room for that kinda set up. Seems like I worry about squeezing in another bottle of Vallejo.

There are several good article on figure photography on that site. So, surf a bit. :)

My Nikon Coolpix has white balance. I forgot about that one...

BTW, your Grossdeutchland bust is great. (y)
