the WWII for the Russians are the Patriotic war.:)

Sorry, this is not quite right.

The "patriotic war" (отечественная война =
"otetschestwennaja wojna") for the russians is the invasion of Napoleon 1812.

The War 1941 - 1945 is called "welikija otetschestnaja wojna" (Великая Отечественная война = great patriotic war).

And - right, Harry - the "Avtomat Fedorow" was the first assault rifle, the prototype was tested in 1913!

OK, so this was a very interesting discussion - so to conclude I guess the answer to the question that I raised is the following :

- manufacturors will always be cautious about producing figures of Allied soldiers WWII, because sales might be a disappointment. So far it is still a fact that retailers place orders for more WWII Germans than for anything else, and manufacturors have to live and be able to keep their business going.
- some modellers however would really love to see more figures of Allied soldiers, and the argument has been raised somewhere, "if it is sculpted by a top-sculptor, it will sell" (I think that is true)

Allright, I'm going to try figure out now how I can get an Irish Guards crew for my 1/35 Tasca Firefly (best 1/35 tank kit ever). :)
