Hey guys, many thanks for your comments, and kind words. Victor, when starting this project, the question of how the drum was attached was a concern. I exhausted all the source material I had, and also consulted with several of friends on the Planet to see if they had any info on the subject. In the end it was suggested that maybe modern military bands, and their methods could help. I consulted with an expert, my wife, who in her younger days was a member in a marching band. She described how the drums were used. They used a belt, or strap that went over the shoulder, and around the waist under the uniform jacket so it could not be seen. Then it was attached to drum itself with a clip. Well after days of empty research I went with that method. I have a picture of what it looks like before the drum was glued on. I hope this helps. Still not sure if this is correct, but it the best I could come up with. Huw, on the color for the yellow jacket I use a mix of Andrea dark flesh, with a little Andrea wood for my base coat. I always go with a mid shadow color for my base. Then just adding more of the wood color for deeper shadows, and then adding deep yellow, and lemon yellow to the base for the highlights. I just keep working at it until it looks right. Alan, I have admired your Historex work from the 80's. It is very inspiring! Marc, I have been working with Historex since the late 70's. It's never too late to start. Thanks again for all the comments.

Best Regards,

Rod

That is an outstanding piece of work Rod. I love when guys jump into the Historex arena. How did you tackle the helmet chin scales on this piece if I may ask? Thanks.
Jay

Jay,
Thanks for the comments. I know how applying the chin scales can be a pain, but this time it was no problem. I used a Historex resin head, so I had to use crazy glue to secure them. I did remove the side burns first, so it fit closer to his cheeks. It worked this time without making a mess of it. Thanks again for looking.

Best Regards,
Rod

Hi Rod,

Thank you for that very logical method of slinging the drum. I hadn't thought of concealing the strap underneath the jacket. It makes a lot of sense.

Thanks Victor, It was interesting in trying to find any documentation on the subject in regards to mounted drummers. There is plenty on Kettledrummers but not on this one. Andrew, thanks for the link. I must have missed that one. But it does make sense,
when it comes to the way of attaching for the infantry drummers. I guess I wasn't too far off. Thanks again guys for your comments.

Best Regards,
Rod
