I've been slapping some Artist's oils on the leather flight jacket today, I think the colour looks about right.

I must clean up the zip area with a damp brush to remove the paint on the metal areas before the paint dries.

Hi Nap, there might have been but all gone now.

Thanks, I'm pleased with the jacket colour, wasn't sure I would get the base colour like the boxart which I wanted but easy, Raw Umber. As I said in Chris's post I have played with the jacket a bit more and I think it looks better now, also started doing the zips.

No I did paint the shirt, very pale blue, and decoration before the jacket, much easier that way.

Will post more when I can.

Cheers

Hi Geoff

Missed the updates on this after the flesh ones ......certainly has come out really well

How did you do the rank epaulettes ...a wash ?

Leather jacket has some good colour on it

You seem more happy with oils mate .....certainly works with this bust

Thanks for sharing

Look forward to the next

Thanks mate, yes it was a Citadel Nuln oil wash over very light grey then the grey again lightly over with the side of the brush to highlight.

Leather jacket colours in Artist's oils are, Base - Raw Umber, Shadow areas - Paynes Gray, and Highlights - lightly with Burnt Sienna, all well brushed in and keep wiping the brush to remove paint from it.

I do like oils, it's just the drying time, I don't like the quick 1 hour dry paint, my white is that one and not happy with it.

I don't have another one to do now, waiting for Matt to get in the Fan Art Baron Munchhausen, it looks super. I might have to try painting a picture, of a soldier of course.

Cheers
Geoff
