I don't need to go to You Tube as I have both these great films on Video , yes I hung on to my old video machine as I had to many great old movies on video that still havn't come out on DVD . I agree there is some very interesting uniform ideas in both films the best one being 55 Days in Peking but the best thing about old movies is I can understand all the dialouge unlike modern films where they just seem to mumble and I can't make out half of what is said .

Oh My. . . 55 days in Peking, in my opinion, and you realize
I started watching movies before television, before the internet,
is a very well done film. Ava Gardner and Charlton Heston were
at the top of their game, in my opinion. And there are so many
aspects of the movie that would make very good diorama
possibilities. And . . . drum roll please. . . in an era that has
nuttin to do with Wehrmacht WWII. Yes, I realize the WWII
German History is the most popular era out there as far as
armor modeling and figure modeling. But really, do we need
to do the same things as everyone else? I see it as our expression
as individuals going down a different fork in the road, that is
the journey to seriously contemplate. Just my two cents, . . .
as it were. o_O Miami Jayhawker

Many older movies go up and come down, sometimes quickly so you need to check regularly. And many are not available on DVD in North America (eg Alan Ladd's The Paratrooper and Sabu's Drums). They often don't last long before coming down, presumably for breach of terms of use. I have downloaded a few onto my computer for travel even though I have also the DVDs in many cases.Others I would buy if available.

The movies are nice but I am really enjoying getting access to BBC and other UK and German documentaries on WWI and the German Resistance in WWII that are not shown n Canadian TV. After all, if the History Channel and A&E showed such things where would people go to see 24 hour-a-day Dog the Bounty Hunter, Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars and other dross.

Rant complete.

Awwwwwwwww, chew definitely pushed my button, amigo.
The History Channel? What a crock of balony. Oh gee. And their
premise started out so good, all those years ago. Bounty Hunter?
Ah . . .Ice Road Truckers? . . . Pawn Stars. OK, I'll admit it. . .
I don't get reality TV. To my sensibilities, it sucks. Please, oh please
bring back History in the History Channel. My guess is the format
didn't make enough money. So so sad. At least I have Turner
Classic Movies and some of the great history movies from the
bygone eras. OK, enough of my ranting. Sorry. . . but I feel betta'
